The West Side Potters Oral History Project

This is a community-based oral history project organized by cultural historian Kaitlin McClure and funded by the Center for Craft, Creativity & Design to record the voices and experiences of makers at the West Side YMCA’s pottery studio.

Kaitlin McClure collected a series of interviews with makers at the studio—some newcomers, and some who had been there many years—to hear what sparked their interest in clay, what motivates them to keep making, and what part the community plays in their artistic expression.

Interviews are also hosted at Bard Graduate Center’s Craft, Art & Design Oral History Project.
